I am very, very excited to begin sharing my latest endeavor, a piece of long form fiction with the working title of The Assassin's Table.
You can expect this new work to show up here at Steampunk a-Go-Go, serialized with blog updates about every two weeks.
This is a work in progress. I estimate that I'm about a third of the way into the story right now and there's enough to start sharing with you. I've started this serial because right now it's clear to me that I need something to push the work forward and get me to commit to finishing this tale that just keeps growing and growing. By sharing it with you all on a regular basis, it will force me to stay focused and get this story told. We might be done by March, we may take this journey into 2017, I really don't know. We'll let the story decide that, if that's okay.
What I do know is that I believe in this story. It began with a simple doodle in a notebook back in June of '16, which I'm posting on the site today. This doodle was a lot of fun to write. It was so much fun, I kept coming back to it simply to figure out what's next.
My guidance for writing this was to create something fun, something I enjoyed writing and something that my sons would enjoy reading. All posts will be vetted by them, so I think you can trust at least a baseline of quality for what you're about to read.
Also, whether you count yourself as a True Believer or this is your first visit to the site and you've enjoyed reading, I do invite your thoughts and feedback, either by responding to the blog or using the contact page to send me a message directly.
Should you choose to reach out, please make sure you abide by the ground rules posted to the right. I do wish to know if the story works and I want to grow as a writer. I'm not willing to be a punching bag. That idea that a writer needs a thick skin? True, but that doesn't give anyone a right to be a troll. Got it?
So, again, I hope this story fragment helps give your 2016 a great start. I'm sure excited to start the new year by sharing with you.
Now get reading. I trust you'll be glad you did.
