Welcome back to the Assassin's Table. Part Two, "Terms and Conditions" received good reviews from the test audience, my wife and younger son, so I hope you enjoy it.
I was a little nervous to even look at this section, having not looked at it since I first scribbled it down six months ago. This was very early in the process and I really had no idea where the story was going, or what kind of world in which it was taking place. I was letting the story take form.
As far as my process goes, I really don't get a lot of pleasure from writing extensive character biographies, mapping the world of the story, or making plot diagrams. That kind of process, while effective for some writers is, for me, a real drag and distracts form what the focus should be, which is the writing of the story.
This kind of process has some really unmatched creative highs. It also has some crushing lows where the words, the ideas just don't seem to come. Luckily, I've found that patience as well as having several projects going at the same time really helps.
Right now, The Assassin's Table is my only long form work, and I'm still discovering it with you, even though I'm a little ahead of the story than you.
Keep in mind that what you're getting is essentially a cleaned up first draft. The final product, whenever that happens may be exactly what we discover together here, or it may be very different. I have to admit, I'm not just comfortable with this kind of uncertainty, I really enjoy it.
So, Happy Friday.
